Share Your Heart Dog's Story
Your dog's story matters — and the K9 Hearts community wants to hear it.
Every heart dog deserves to be known — not just by the people who loved them, but by a community that understands exactly what that love meant. K9 Hearts is building a library of Heart Dog Stories, because the more stories we hold, the less alone every grieving dog owner feels.
Tell us about your dog — their name, their personality, the things only you knew about them, and what losing them has been like. Your words could be the light that guides someone else through their darkest days.
What Is a Heart Dog Story?
A Heart Dog Story is K9 Hearts' name for the story of a dog who was more than a pet — the dog who changed your life, who knew you in ways no one else did, and whose absence has left a space nothing else fills.
K9 Hearts collects these stories because they matter, because they deserve to be told, and because every person who reads one feels a little less alone in their grief.
You can share your Heart Dog Story here — and with your permission, K9 Hearts will share it with the community.
What Happens After You Share?
Once you submit your story, Paige reads every one personally. Selected Heart Dog Stories are shared with the K9 Hearts community — on social media and on the K9 Hearts site — with your permission and exactly as you wrote them. Your dog's name will be known.
Their story will be held. And somewhere, someone who needed to read it will find it at exactly the right moment.
Tell Us About Your Heart Dog
This is a space for your dog's story. Whether you are deep in grief, finding your footing, or simply not ready to stop talking about them — you are welcome here.
With your permission, selected Heart Dog Stories are shared with the K9 Hearts community to help others feel less alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I share my heart dog's story with K9 Hearts?
Fill out the form on this page with your name, your dog's name, your email address, and your story. You can share as much or as little as you want — there is no minimum length and no right or wrong way to tell it. Check the permission box if you would like K9 Hearts to share your story with the community, and hit submit. Paige reads every submission personally.
What happens to my dog's story after I submit it?
Every story submitted to K9 Hearts is read personally by Paige Cummings, founder of K9 Hearts. Selected Heart Dog Stories are shared with the K9 Hearts community on social media and on the K9 Hearts website — always with your explicit permission and always honoring your dog exactly as you described them. Stories submitted without permission to share are held privately and never published.
Does K9 Hearts write custom stories about dogs?
Right now K9 Hearts invites dog owners to share their own stories in their own words — because no one knows your dog the way you do. K9 Hearts is building toward an expanded story-sharing experience that will offer more support in telling your dog's story. For now, share what you have. Your words are exactly enough.
Will my dog's story be shared publicly?
Only with your explicit permission. The form includes a checkbox where you choose whether to give K9 Hearts permission to share your story. If you do not check it your story is held privately. K9 Hearts will never share your story, your dog's name, or any identifying information without your consent.
Do I need to have lost my dog to share their story?
No. K9 Hearts welcomes stories from anyone who has loved a dog deeply — whether your dog is still here, whether you are in anticipatory grief, or whether your loss happened years ago. There is no timeline on love and there is no deadline on your dog's story deserving to be told.
What is a Heart Dog Story?
A Heart Dog Story is K9 Hearts' name for the story of the once-in-a-lifetime dog — the one whose presence changed you, whose loss broke something open, and whose memory you are not ready to let go of quietly. These are not just pet loss stories. They are love stories. And K9 Hearts collects them because every heart dog deserves to be remembered by more than the people who knew them.
Can I share my dog's story if I also want an EOP Legacy Portrait?
Yes — and many families do both. Sharing your Heart Dog Story and ordering an EOP Legacy Portrait are two separate, complementary ways to honor your dog. The story captures who they were in words. The portrait captures who they were in image. Together they create something permanent. You can learn more about EOP Legacy Portraits at k9hearts.com/dog-memorial-portrait-art.
